Our lab is part of the Texas Tech University School of Veterinary Medicine in Amarillo, Texas. Within this facility, we operate a biosafety level 2 (BSL-2) research space designed for the safe handling of pathogenic microorganisms.
The laboratory includes interconnected rooms and dedicated areas for sample processing, microbial culture, molecular analysis, and long-term storage. Our infrastructure also supports safe and responsible research through biological safety cabinets, sterilization and waste management systems, and cold-storage capacity.
These resources allow us to carry out projects that range from microbial detection and characterization to antimicrobial intervention studies and microbial ecology investigations. We also apply state-of-the-art microbiological and molecular methods that enable precise bacterial identification, antimicrobial resistance profiling, and rapid pathogen detection. Together, these resources and approaches provide the foundation for innovative, science-driven solutions to food safety challenges.
