About Us
Solving food safety issues from farm to fork
At the Applied Microbiology and Food Safety Lab, we investigate the complex interactions between foodborne pathogens from a One Health perspective, meaning that our research encompases the prevention and mitigation of foodborne pathogens from farm to fork.
Our research focuses on pathogen detection, characterization (genotypically and phenotypically), and the development of multiple control strategies to achieve pathogen mitigation in different food matrices and production systems.
Providing science-driven solutions
Our team consists of dedicated student researchers who work together to address critical food safety challenges. By combining training in microbiology with hands-on research experience, we contribute to science-driven solutions that support safer food processing systems.
PhD in Animal Sciences with emphasis in Food Microbiology from Texas Tech University (Lubbock, TX), where she also conducted postdoctoral research studies.
We are commited to provived science-drived solutions to efficiently control foodborne pathogens and improve public health outcomes.
Our work goes beyond the laboratory, thanks to the collaboration with food producers, regulatory agencies, and veterinary professionals to ensure that our research findings translate into practical applications.
